Safeguarding

At Set Starters, the safety and well-being of all individuals within our community are our top priority. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all, particularly vulnerable groups, including young adults and valuable adults. Our safeguarding practices reflect the seriousness with which we approach the responsibility of protecting all individuals involved in our programmes and services.

Our Commitment to Safeguarding

Set Starters is dedicated to ensuring that all individuals, especially those who are vulnerable, are treated with dignity and respect. We recognise the importance of safeguarding in fostering a safe environment for learning, growth, and collaboration. We have established clear safeguarding policies and procedures to prevent abuse, exploitation, and neglect within our organisation.

Safeguarding Training and Expertise

We take safeguarding very seriously and have taken steps to ensure that some of our higher-up members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to support vulnerable individuals effectively. Several key members of our leadership team have completed advanced DBS checks and received specialist training in safeguarding vulnerable adults and young people. This training has been provided by reputable institutions, including the NHS Ambulance Service Trusts and Mental Health Care Providers.

These trained individuals are not only prepared to address safeguarding concerns but also to recognise and respond to signs of potential harm, ensuring that individuals who are at risk are supported appropriately and with sensitivity.

Safeguarding Policies and Procedures

We have developed robust safeguarding policies that cover the following areas:

  • Preventing Abuse: We have clear protocols to prevent abuse, bullying, and exploitation, including measures to ensure safe recruitment and ongoing monitoring of staff and volunteers.
  • Reporting Concerns: We have a transparent and confidential reporting system in place for individuals to raise concerns about safeguarding matters. All reports are taken seriously and investigated promptly.
  • Support for Vulnerable Individuals: We provide tailored support to vulnerable individuals, ensuring their needs are met in a safe and respectful manner.
  • Training and Awareness: All staff and volunteers are required to undergo safeguarding training as part of their induction and on an ongoing basis, ensuring that they understand their responsibilities and how to act if they become aware of any safeguarding concerns.

Monitoring and Review

We regularly review our safeguarding practices and policies to ensure they remain up-to-date and aligned with the latest legal requirements and best practices. We also encourage feedback from staff, volunteers, and service users to ensure our safeguarding approach is effective and responsive to emerging needs.

At Set Starters, we are unwavering in our commitment to safeguarding all individuals within our community. We strive to maintain a safe environment where every person feels protected and supported. By having trained professionals on hand and robust policies in place, we ensure that safeguarding is a priority in everything we do.
