Modern Slavery Statement

At Set Starters, we are committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards and ensuring that our operations are free from modern slavery and human trafficking. As an organisation that actively engages volunteers to support our mission, we understand the importance of promoting fairness, respect, and dignity within our community. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out our commitment to prevent any form of modern slavery and human trafficking within our activities.

Organisational Commitment

We recognise the serious impact of modern slavery and human trafficking and are committed to preventing it in all forms within our organisation. Set Starters operates with a zero-tolerance approach to any form of forced or exploitative labour, whether it concerns volunteers or paid staff. We take our responsibilities seriously and ensure that all our volunteers are treated fairly, equitably, and with respect for their rights and dignity.

Our Volunteers and Employment Practices

Set Starters operates with a volunteer workforce to help foster the growth and development of individuals entering the Film & TV Industry. We ensure that our volunteers are not subjected to any form of exploitation, coercion, or manipulation, and we provide clear communication about their roles, expectations, and working conditions.

Recruitment

We follow fair and transparent recruitment processes to ensure that no volunteer is subject to exploitation during the hiring process. Volunteers are provided with clear information about their duties, expected hours, and the nature of their roles.

Contracts and Agreements

We provide written agreements for volunteers, outlining the terms of their engagement, responsibilities, and the support they will receive throughout their time with us.

Respect and Equality

We are committed to treating all volunteers with respect and dignity. We prohibit any form of harassment, discrimination, or exploitation in our workplace and provide mechanisms for volunteers to report any concerns in confidence.

Supply Chain and Partnerships

Set Starters expects its suppliers, contractors, and partners to uphold the same ethical standards as we do in preventing modern slavery and human trafficking. We take steps to evaluate our business relationships to ensure that our supply chain is free from unethical labour practices. This includes:

  • Conducting regular reviews of suppliers and partners to ensure they comply with our ethical standards.
  • Ensuring that all suppliers sign agreements that confirm their commitment to upholding anti-slavery practices.

Training and Awareness

We provide training to all members of Set Starters, including volunteers and staff, on the importance of combating modern slavery and human trafficking. This training ensures that everyone understands how to recognise signs of modern slavery and the appropriate steps to take if they suspect exploitation or unethical practices.

Reporting and Compliance

Set Starters is committed to creating a safe and transparent environment where volunteers and staff can report concerns without fear of retaliation. We encourage all individuals within our organisation to raise any issues related to modern slavery or human trafficking with management. Reports will be handled confidentially and thoroughly investigated, with appropriate actions taken to address any issues.

Set Starters is committed to eradicating modern slavery in all its forms and ensuring that our operations, including our volunteer programme, are free from exploitation. We believe that by adhering to the principles set out in this statement, we can foster an environment that promotes fairness, dignity, and respect for all individuals involved in our organisation.

This statement is made in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and is reviewed annually to ensure it remains up-to-date and relevant to our operations.
